Our private yurts offer the perfect combination of back-to-nature living, without compromising on all the usual luxuries you would wish for on your holiday. Enjoy a glass of champagne in our private riverside glamping forest, with a roaring wood-burning stove and the stars of the Milky Way overhead.

• General information

  These beautiful, romantic Yurts are situated right on the banks of our river, in our private forest garden. They are all fully furnished with king beds, antique furniture and quality country loveliness. Each of the yurts is unique in design and have access to a shared outdoor shower and toilet facility.

  All amenities such as tea and coffee making facilities are provided as well as complimentary full Cumbrian breakfast in the hotel. Our garden is an 'eco/quiet site' with no electricity but power packs are provided to charge electronics and re-chargeable lamps provided

• Accommodation

  Our canvas yurt (Hygge 18) has a King size bed & sleeps a maximum of 2 people & is dog friendly. It is decorated in the Danish style of Hygge, meaning a feeling of cosiness and contentment. Filled with full size furniture, a log burning stove and electricity – this really is glamping done right. Located in our private woodland & riverside garden, snuggle down and enjoy the sound of nature. 

  Our canvas yurt (Wilderness 19) has a King size bed & sleeps a maximum of 2 people & is dog friendly. It is decorated with Voyage Maison blues and greens to create a feeling of relaxation from the moment you walk in. Filled with full size furniture, homemade macramé, a log burning stove and electricity – this really is glamping done right. Located in our private woodland & riverside garden, snuggle down and enjoy the sound of nature. 

  Our canvas yurt (Viking 20) is the largest of the three.  Sleeping up to 4 people, it has a King size bed & sofa bed making it perfect for family adventures. It is decorated with skulls & fur to create a Viking experience for all the family. Filled with full size furniture, a log burning stove and electricity – this really is glamping done right, with the added bonus of breakfast in the morning! Located in our private woodland & riverside garden, snuggle down and enjoy the sound of nature.

• Prices

  £140/per night including breakfast for TWO guests sharing.  Additional guests sharing Yurt 20 will be charged an additional £40/per person per night

  If you are staying in our yurts the facilities includes:

  • Access to shared hot, woodland shower facilities
  • Access to our woodland eco loo
  • A full breakfast at The Black Swan
  • Towels
  • Electricity
  • Access to the inside toilet facilities when the hotel is open
  • Access to a hairdryer in the ladies toilet of The Black Swan
  • A picnic area per yurt

  • A stove kettle, tea and coffee making facilities in your yurt
  • Water supplied in your yurt
  • Wood and fire making supplies for your stove
  • If you are bringing a dog you will also have some dog poo bags in your yurt 

• Things to do onsite and nearby

  Our village is fortunate to have its very own golf course and tennis court for our guests’ enjoyment. Amazing walks from our door (loan maps and walks available) in our unspoilt and quiet countryside.

  Our very own garden boasts a family of otters, red squirrels, foxes and an SSSI river. Relax in our garden and enjoy the peace

  The central Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Durham Dales and Scottish Borders are only a short drive away, as are the lovely market towns of Sedbergh, Kirkby Lonsdale, Kirkby Stephen, Penrith and Barnard Castle.

  The Carlisle-Settle railway, with regular steam trains, passes only a few short miles from our door. We offer a free pick-up/drop-off service (by prior arrangement).

  The Coast-to-Coast walk passes nearby and we are a very popular stop to rest and refresh! (pick-up/drop-off service available from Kirkby Stephen (by prior arrangement).

  We are centrally located for many other popular walks and cycle routes (storage and drying facilities available)
